AUTOR

RUI ARAUJO NACIÓ EN LISBOA, LE GUSTARÍA SER ESPAÑOL (y vivir en Navarra).
Quería ser marinero como su abuelo materno (Marina Mercante) y su tío paterno (Marina de Guerra).
Estudió en las universidades de PARÍS X y de París IV (Sorbonne).
Es colaborador de la revista LUZES (A Coruña), FRONTERAd (Madrid) + PÁGINA UM (Lisboa).
Fue el primer portugués en ser Nieman - NIEMAN FOUNDATION FOR JOURNALISM - Harvard University- (1991) desde la creación de la Fundación en 1938.
PRÁCTICAS: AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE (AFP) con Michel Leleu ('Desk Diplomatique'), en París, y CBS NEWS (Evening News/Richard Wagner), Nueva York.
Trabajó para O JORNAL (Jefa de Redacción: Edite Soeiro); EXPRESSO (Redactor Jefe: Vicente Jorge Silva); revista ABC; ANOP, TSF RÁDIOJORNAL, CBS NEWS (1987-91 - ejemplo: Investigación IRANGATE con Eric Engberg en Washington D.C: y con Brian Knoblock, en el Foreign Desk en Nueva York); UNITED PRESS INTERNATIONAL, RADIO FRANCE INTERNATIONALE; LIBÉRATION, LE POINT, etcétera.
Fue corresponsal de la RTP y de la agencia de noticias ANOP en París (1978-83) y de la RTP en Bruselas (93-95)
Es cofundador del semanal GRANDE REPORTAGEM.
Fue reportero del JORNAL DAS 9 (Redactor Jefe: José Solano de Almeida) de la RTP2; Reportero del programa GRANDE REPORTAGEM de la RTP1; Redactor Jefe del programa cultural CAIS DO ORIENTE y del programa de reportaje ENVIADO ESPECIAL (ambos de la RTP1); Defensor del Lector del diario PÚBLICO; Primer portugués miembro del INTERNATIONAL CONSORTIUM OF INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISTS (desde la creación 1997 hasta 2023).
Impartió clases/dio charlas: CENJOR, UNIV. AUTONOMA DE LISBOA, UNIV. MODERNA, ISCTE, INSTIT. SUP. TÉCNICO, UNIV. COMPLUT. DE MADRID, UNIV. REY JUAN CARLOS, etcétera.
Escribió «O DIÁRIO SECRETO QUE SALAZAR NÃO LEU» y «O IMPÉRIO DOS ESPIÕES» (ambos sobre espionaje), «A SOLIDÃO DO MAR» ("Grande Reportagem"); es coautor de «THE CORRUPTION NOTEBOOKS» (EE UU) y autor de la novela negra «A TENTAÇÃO DO ABISMO - SANZ BLUES», etcétera.
Está escribiendo un libro sobre la despoblación en la Raya.

International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ)

Rui Araujo, Portugal, is an award-winning investigative journalist who has covered wars in Rwanda, Bosnia, Croatia, Libya, Central African Republic, Syria and particularly East Timor, the former Portuguese colony. He is a stringer for Revista Luzes (A Coruña, Spain) and Fonterad (Madrid, Spain). Araujo is a former stringer for UPI, RFI, O Jornal, Expresso, Público, Libération, Le Point, and co-founder of Grande Reportagem. In 1987, he reported for CBS News on the Iran-Contra scandal. He has been an ombudsman for Público. He is also a former reporter for TVI. Araujo has won 11 journalism awards. A graduate of the Sorbonne, he was a Nieman journalism fellow at Harvard University in 1991. He is the author or co-author of nine books (four of them are non-fiction), and is a contributing writer to Corruption Notebooks (Center for Public Integrity).
